Welcome Parents and Students to the team of 6A:
I hope all of you are enjoying the last weeks of the summer holidays, me, I am back at work. I am gazing around an empty classroom imagining it in two weeks with all of your smiling faces. I hope I have it all set up and ready for you.
To introduce myself to any who don’t know me, my name is Mrs. Laboucan. I have been teaching for a lot of years, but this is my third year at the grade six level here in Slave Lake. I am a mother of five and a grandmother of three, and love working with children. They are what keeps me going and young, at least at heart.
Grade Six is a huge growing year for all students, and I hope to help them on the way to the next step in life. I know that this can be a rich and rewarding year and I promise to do my best and I hope I can count on all of you to do yours.
School Supply lists are at most stores. On the Grade Six lists are recipe card boxes or index card boxes and cards. These items can be found at the Dollar Giant, and I use these items for all core subjects. As well for my class, students really need highlighters and white board markers.
I try very hard to keep communications open throughout the year with the home and school. I will be sending home newsletters and other information regularly. As well, I regularly maintain our class web site: http://www.hpsd48.ab.ca/egw (click on 6A). If you need or want to contact me at anytime you can call the school at 780-849-3539 or send me an e-mail at:

. Please do not expect an answer though until later in the day, as during school hours I rarely get to check my e-mails. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns. By working together, we can ensure that each student receives the best possible learning experience during the 2010-2011 school year.
To help prepare for the school year, you are invited to 6A’s open house on August 30 at 1:30 P.M. During this time, students and parents/guardians are invited to bring in their school supplies, find their lockers and choose their desk. This will also be a time to meet me. Our room is #126. I hope to see you all there.
Enjoy the rest of the summer. Brenda Lea Laboucan
